Area/Activities

Andalucia is known as “the bridge between two continents” and “a melting pot of cultures”, and this befits the place perfectly.

A direct link between Europe and Africa, and the place where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean, Andalucia has been fought over by numerous cultures since the earliest times of civilization.

La Haza is ideal for short breaks or longer holidays at all times of the year. The immediate area provides an extensive range of activities and excursions for all seasons. The itineraries of our guests regularly include Ronda, Sierra Nevada and Alpujarras, El Torcal National Park and Antequera, Sevilla, Cordoba, Malaga, Granada, Priego de Cordoba, Zuheros and other towns in the Subbetica National Park.

Furthermore, we can provide for you pamper days, yoga and relaxation, horseriding, mountainbiking, organise your car rental for you, or even a flight above Granada, the Sierra Nevada, or La Haza if you so wish.

The nearby, unspoilt traditional white-walled, red-roofed village of Iznajar with its castle dating from the 8th century (and giving the village its name) has spectacular views over the lake, which hosts water sports and fishing, and has its own beach at Valdearenas.

We have comprehensive guides, tourist maps and personal information, such as where to park, where to eat, tapa bars, etc., etc. for all the major places around us, and, owing to the great infrastructure, driving everywhere is a breeze!

As long as you take into account that most places close between 14h and 17h, and double your travelling time if you use mountain roads, you will find Andalucia most welcoming.

Granada (the Moorish Jewel) and its Alhambra

Stroll through beautiful gardens, charming narrow streets, have a drink and a tapa in one of the typical taverns, try the famous “Trevelez” ham, listen to the gypsies singing Flamenco, or even go to the “Cuevas” in the monastery of Sacromonte where monks still live to this day.

Cordoba – the crossing of cultures...

It was one of Europe’s most important capitals in the 11th century, complete with street lighting (and not a lot of people know that...), a peaceful melting pot of Jews, Muslims and Christians, culminating in such gems as the Mezquita, the Moorish mosque and a variety of other museums.

Malaga – always surprising

Gateway to the Costa del Sol and its beaches, it has quite a bit more to offer than just that! Founded by the Phoenicians, important during the Moorish era, it has some interesting historical remains (the Castle by the port is definitely worth a visit), great city life, and a host of little bars to try out the Malaga wine, served directly from the barrels, some bars still marking the cost of your drinks on the bar with a piece of chalk. Alternatively, try one of the beach “chiringuitos” for the freshest fish.

El Torcal – got to be seen to be believed

An area that was previously the sea bed, in the Jurassic era (100-200 million years ago), has now risen to about 1300m altitude, with erosion providing a spectacular landscape. Two walks show you around the place. Proper footwear recommended.

As indicated, we will only be too pleased to provide you with comprehensive information, maps, guide books and driving/parking instructions, to make sure you get the most out of your holiday.

Of course, if you just want to relax by the pool, and de-stress, you are welcome to do so. Bernadette and Patriek will look after you, provide you with lunch if you so wish, bring you drinks and tapas (we serve the best olives for miles around!), in short, do anything that is necessary to make your holiday unforgettable. We promise you you won’t want to leave!
